In April 2011 Crawley had it’s first literary festival WORDfest: Crawley Festival of Words. Ginger Moo was heavily involved in the visual arts side of the festival. The gallery window played host to a different artist, designer or illustrator each day, their brief was simple, to create work that in some way was related to words that inspire them. The results were exciting and diverse as you can see below. The artists were Julius Doroskevicius, Jim Smithyes, Stuart Witton, Andy Foot, Andrea Thorns, Mr. Nick, Jo Harrison and Rachel Cowell.
In addition to the live window art, we also organised a series of community workshops with various artists related to words. Mark Pembrey, Sally Franks, Sarah Williams and Elly Strigner worked with Central Sussex College students, The Open House and a group of elderly people with sight impairment. Each artist tailored their workshop to their group and all participants got a great deal from their sessions.
