Bloom Boom Project 2010

Working with Crawley Borough Council, Crawley Town Centre Partnership and County Mall, Ginger Moo organised the Bloom Boom Project in conjunction with Britain in Bloom. Ginger Moo Project Managed the entire venture from concept to completion. In total 120 school children from each of the secondary schools in Crawley, designed and customised one metre high fibre glass flowers over a period of three months and completed in time to be on show for the Britain in Bloom entry. Running a series of creative workshops, the groups of children were asked to initiate and finalise bespoke designs following a commercially realistic design process incorporating brief-taking, concept design and design development through to the completion of a total of 36 flowers. The results were stunning and a testament to their hard work and ingenuity, showing that with the proper guidance the students could genuinely create some inspirational objects, proving that thinking outside of the box will often create the best solutions.

After the judging the flowers were positioned around the town to create a trail, with a trail map competition and design competition. The project engaged a huge number of people from in and around the town

Our contribution to the Britain in Bloom entry helped the Town win a Silver Gilt award and category winner and Ginger Moo accepted a ‘Let’s Face It’ award in recognition of the work carried out for this project.

The Bloom Boom project was the largest of it’s kind experienced in the Borough.
